The Young Hoosier Book Award (YHBA) Club is a fun and challenging reading club that encourages students to read the 20 books that make up the highly recommended list of YHBA nominees for 2023-24 for the middle grades for the state of Indiana. These are books that have been recommended by librarians and teachers from all over Indiana.
The Young Hoosier Book Award Club (YHBA) meet for a callout meeting on Monday, September 11, 2023.
The challenge is for students to read at least 5 of the YHBA nominee books during the year. If they fulfill this challenge, they are allowed to vote for their favorite one. Votes from Indiana middle school students are counted throughout the state, and a YHBA winner is declared.
Students may also qualify to participate in the Book Beat Competition in the spring of 2024. Three CPMS teams will represent the school when Johnson County area middle school students compete to find out who knows the most about the YHBA nominee books.
If you have any questions, please stop by and ask Mrs. Kern in the LMC.
